DMs are encouraged to reward players for DMd quests. However directly adjusting a character's stats using the DM debugging functions will cause a character to become illegal and no longer load correctly. Don't do it. It can't be fixed except by loading an old copy of the character or rebuilding it
The preferred way to reward characters is with xp/gold/mana. These allow characters too advance and build their own customized reward items.
For players, it is advisable that you occationally make a local copy of your character. This is handy on any server, as it means you controll the fate of your character, even if the server dissapears.

Don't worry - we are NOT planning to disappear. We have had this happen to us a few times and that is the only reason Dan brought it up. He misses his old char's
Cheers

*chuckles* I will speak to the kids and let them know that what they do at home is not always the best thing to do to all and sundry. Was also wondering if there was a less painless way to give DM rights but restrict the rights so less of these incedents will cause you headaches

Unfortunatley there is no way to limit the powers of individual DMs. As we have had a couple of problems now with drake's provisional DMship - I won't ellaborate them all here - I have to remove his access. It is unfortunate but not unexpected that he could not show more restraint. I would never have expected my kids to handle DM powers, and perhaps I was wrong to give him DM abilitlies in the first place. However we have stated several times that we encourage players to experience this side of NWN.
Drake, I hope you still enjoy playing on the Isle of Gron. Perhaps in a couple more years you will be more ready for DMing.
