Unfortunately this link doesn't work as we are unable to contact our apache server from behind our current router (D-Link). If any D-Link gurus have an idea how to fix this let us know. Server StatusFollow the link above to view the server status. You can bookmark this page so that you can check whether the server is up and people are online. I will be updating the page (when I get some PHP skill) so that it gives a listing of who is online. Cheers

For some reason Optus keeps renewing our IP address. Because of the changes, it is playing havoc with us being online. It seems that whenever Optus changes our IP the server drops from Gamespy and doesn't re-appear.
I will be looking into getting a static IP address for us if possible, but it may mean going to ADSL, and am unsure how long that will take.
I will post again as soon as I know anything
Cheers

Okay, I presume this is only after you re-log the PC hosting the mod. If you can post the IP address on the forums we can all direct connect, or keep a login connected, we add that to our fav's and join that way.
Just a thought if this is going to be a long term prob. O
P.S. Is it possible to have a static IP for the gateway, then it will always be the same IP address ?

I just tried connecting and can get on.
I connect by going through JOIN INTERNET GAME
The IP I connect through is :
210.49.120.192:5121
You can usually find the server by going to PW Action and clicking on the PING button to filter them, Gron is usually the first or second one on the list for those who are in Australia because the ping is so low.
Dan has alot of uni work to do today and Laurie has been up all night building so I will get them to look into it when they get a chance later.
Cheers,
Pelagia

At the moment this is where we stand. For some reason Optus will only provide IP addresses on a 4 hourly lease. This means that even if the modem is turned on and the computer is running our IP address could change. So we then have to restart the computer to get it back on gamespy and you have to find us through the PW Action list. We have also discovered that we are not allowed to run a game server. uhoh. If we swap to Telstra cable they have assured us that while the modem is turned on our IP address won't change. That means you should be able to find us in your "history" section. It means we have to sign up to them for 24months as we can't afford to just buy the modem and start with them. We would also need to change our home phone to Telstra. Swapping to Telstra is a possibility, but I have concerns. Does anyone else have Telstra Cable and how have you found it? The reason I am asking is that I used to work for Telstra ADSL and lots of people had problems and the service did go down alot. At work they said that cable didn't have the same problems, but I have never used Telstra Cable b4. Unfortunately we live in an area where we cannot get ADSL so a dedication IP address is out of the question. Any thoughts, ideas and input is appreciated. Thanks Cheers

I know Hangman is on Telstra cable, will ask him what his service is like ... that should help you.
If you are supplied a modem *evil grin*, can you just connect to Telstra without all the hellabaloo of signing up etc .. ?
Otherwise would you want the mod hosted on another server/location ?
Am sure I could find a home for it *looks at hangman*
I would be up for making a machine to host it on.
Just a suggestion, and there are plenty of apps out there now that allow for remote access.

well it is done. We have swapped to telstra cable and it should go through on the 20th of this month. As to building a server machine - you are more than welcome to pinorkel. We llike having the mod hosted here as it is easiest for updating etc and with me being home nearly all day most days, I can keep my eye on it. If anyone ever sees it down messaging me (or phoning for those who have my phone number) will generally get things fixed quite quickly. We only have four ports on the router so we can only run four machines, that's one for me, one for dan, one for the kids and the server. I haven't seen any probs with it on the laptop yet, but if there has been pls contact me. Ideally I would love a dedicated windows 2003 server but money just doesn't stretch quite that far. Especially to the ones I like. I love putting computers together myself and know that I could build them cheaper than buying them but the parts don't come cheap - and although I haven't priced the 2003 windows server software I cannot imagine it being too much cheaper than xp pro. I'll just have to keep singing "if I was a rich girl...." and dreaming of the server of my dreams. Oh well, I have fun anyway Cheers
